<p><span style="color: #645555;">12 year old me didn’t hesitate for a sec. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f601.png" alt="😁" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> I was pirouetting around a kitchen in a pink feather robe whilst bots whipped up breakfast for me and my husband, Justin Timberlake. Life was incredible… Until one of the bots glitched mid-coffee pour and accidentally revealed their plan to take me and Justin hostage that eve. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">2 things I took from that English lesson.</span></p>

<li class="ProsemirrorEditor-listItem" data-list-indent="1" data-list-type="numbered"><span style="color: #645555;">I can do so much better than Justin Timberlake.</span></li>

<p><span style="color: #645555;"><strong>Now &#8211; what does any of this have to do with your content and storytelling efforts?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">Before I get into it, let me remind you who I am and why my insights are worth your time!</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #645555;">Enough about me. Let’s talk about how you can use storytelling to build trust and attract the clients you actually want.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><strong><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f615.png" alt="😕" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Can you spot the difference between content that was written with care and content that was just generated?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">I can spot AI-lifted copy in about 2 seconds. It’s stilted, soul-less and icky. No lie, sometimes I feel the urge to shower after reading AI regurgitation. It reminds me of a chat with someone who’s dead behind the eyes. You know the ones, don&#8217;t you? Believe me when I say, your audience can feel your energy, or lack of, even from behind their screen.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">Are you finding it a struggle to warm to people through their content these days? It&#8217;s probs because everything’s starting to read like someone described a human emotion to a machine and the machine did its very best with the information it had. Which, to be fair, it did. That’s not the machine’s fault &#8211; that&#8217;s your copying and pasting, dammit.<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f62b.png" alt="😫" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><strong>Why does this matter so much in the wellness, therapy and coaching space &#8211; especially for the people working in men’s mental health?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">Coaches and therapists working in men&#8217;s &amp; women&#8217;s mental health, biz coaching, and every wellness space in between are sitting on some of the most important, urgent and needed conversations happening right now. The potential to reach someone who is really struggling and make them feel seen and understood is huge. So when your content is missing warmth and empathy and is coming across cold, static and clinical &#8211; it crushes my soul a little.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f622.png" alt="😢" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> And, it’s highly likely that the person who needed to read your post or article scrolled away because they just couldn’t connect with you. </span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><strong>So if AI isn&#8217;t the villain, what actually is?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">AI is an incredible tool when it’s properly briefed and nurtured. You need to proactively teach it about your voice, your energy, your stories and your client world. If you&#8217;re just lifting and pasting its generic first drafts, and expecting it to sound like <em>you, </em>the person who actually cares about their offerings, audience and clients &#8211; you cray.<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f61d.png" alt="😝" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">The difference between AI content that sounds like you and AI content that sounds like everyone else usually comes down to how you brief it. Most people type a topic and hit go.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">Instead, try including the following in your prompt:</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> I’m a <strong>[your role].</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> I work with <strong>[your audience]</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> My voice is <strong>[3 words that describe you]</strong>.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Here’s a story from my own experience that I want to build this content around: <strong>[your actual story]</strong>. Write this in my voice, not a generic one.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f449.png" alt="👉" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Always remember to <strong>share some behind the scenes musings and thoughts with it so it can learn who you are, and mirror your energy and vibe closer.</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">Being more intentional with your prompts can change everything! Try to remember that your AI buddy can’t read your mind. And it obviously doesn&#8217;t know your personal client stories or your lived expertise &#8211; so give it that context every single time and watch what it does with it. It&#8217;ll start to feel so much more <em>you, </em>and it&#8217;ll ultimately connect your words with your audience on a much deeper level.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><strong>What happens when you strip back the AI crutch and rebuild from your actual voice?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;">A fab wellness coach I work with was showing up consistently and wondering why her content wasn’t connecting the way she knew it could. It was informative, well structured and covered all the right topics. <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f92d.png" alt="🤭" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> But it was limp AF. We stripped back the AI crutch, dug into her actual voice, her real client stories and the way she naturally speaks to the people she supports &#8211; and rebuilt everything from there. Buttoned-up, jargon-heavy, and written to please the wrong kind of client &#8211; people she’s actually outgrown.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #645555;">She’s now stepping away from that spreadsheets-and-suits energy, and leaning into a tone that feels softer and more intentional. One that mirrors how she actually runs her business and the kinds of client relationships she values.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #645555;">One of my past clients, a young husband-and-wife property team, had brilliant offerings, but their website felt like it could belong to anyone. It was vague, impersonal, and said very little about their values. So we stripped it back. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #645555;">We added in their story, their humour, their warmth, and we incorporated words and anecdotes that highlighted their youthful, out-of-the-box style. This resulted in clearer messaging, more aligned leads, and less wasted time.</span></p>

And stand firm in the belief that your clients and your audience all get you, appreciate your insights, respect your time, and actually laugh at your terrible jokes. When you read your copy out loud: say it with The Most chest.<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/17.0.2/72x72/1f483.png" alt="💃" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color: #645555;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you stumble, stiffen, or think </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Ugh, I’d never say that,”</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> then it’s probably not you. So scrap the words!</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />

<p><span style="color: #645555;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tone and rhythm matter more than people realise. She joked I should recall the existing copies and publish my own. Sure, it was flattering, but it was also a lesson in overdoing it. What could’ve been a succinct essay pretty much turned into some kind of sequel. <p><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #645555;">Blogging can feel like that sometimes, right? You’ve got all this knowledge, but if you don’t make it clear and concise, your readers will switch off. So, what’s the balance? How do you keep the passion but stay on point?</span></p>
